quEAR! 2013

quEAR 2013

In 2013 the quEAR! festival moved to the alternative cinema/exhibition space ZUKUNFT and the Raumerweiterungshalle near Ostkreuz in Berlin.

During the course of the festival we presented 14 sound installations and a listening program with over 50 audio pieces, as well as workshops and a sound performance night. During the two days of the festival about 800 guests attended, with about 300 visitors at the sound performance night.
The contributions came from different countries around the world including Chile, Spain, France, Belgium, Argentina, USA, Canada, Austria, Autralia, New Zealand, the Czech Republic and Germany. They dealt with a diverse range of topics such as the history of lesbian activism, trans* children, female desire and the question of its representation, alternative family politics, normativity within gay bear culture, women in Argentinian prisons, disabled and queer hip hop artists, the intersex movement, how to deal with daily racism, life stories of trans* masculine people of color, gendered toilets, femmes in the queer community, beauty standards, bullying, trans* femininities, the queerness of class, a queer Harry Potter reading, queer sound porn and much more!
